Presence of Light

Photography is my dialogue with the world.

Where light falls, I pursue the essence and question the truth.

And therein, I seek myself.

The Photographer's Note

I did not start photography the day I met her, but because of her, I began to ask myself how far I could truly go.

The journey, from being an audience member behind a screen to stepping onto the field with a camera, and now, to curating an entire exhibition, has gradually transformed me.

My role is no longer just that of a fan or a mere observer; it has evolved into a photographer who participates, documents, and creates.

I once believed photography was solely about the split second action of pressing the shutter, capable of preserving a moment into eternity.

However, photographs retain far more: they keep the essence of experience and memory, and hold the potential for understanding and resonance when viewed by others.

Gathering these images into an exhibition, from organizing and selecting works, to designing the spatial presentation and planning interactive elements, is an act of translation and curation.

It is also a new form of responsibility for me.

Perhaps others only perceive the specs of the gear and the glamorous surface, but what I feel acutely is the heavy weight of the trust I bear.

The path is destined to be messy and loud, but it is precisely because of this difficulty that my direction becomes clearer.

The moment the shutter clicks, all external noise is filtered out.

Because I know that, in the end, it is not words, but images, that prove everything.

Initially, it was her perseverance and sincerity that moved me.

Now, I hope through this exhibition to let that same strength be seen by more people, a power that helped me walk out of my own slump.

I want to say thank you to her.

Thank you for making it possible, in her own unique way, for an ordinary person like me to gather courage, and for inspiring me to start without waiting for some perfect moment.

Thus, I choose this very moment to present these lights with my still learning hands.

The light that has fallen upon me, I endeavor to share it in this form today.

This is a story that belongs to her, and it is also the metamorphosis I am undergoing.

This is not merely visual documentation; it is a tribute.

A gift to every one of us who chooses a brave metamorphosis under the glow of that light.

Dedicated to Lin Yu-Ting, on her thirtieth birthday.
